Sandoz is a Division of Novartis and a global leader in generic pharmaceutical and biosimilar products. Facilities in Melville and Hicksville, NY have been consolidated into a new facility in Melville. Due to business growth Sandoz required an expansion of the laboratory facilities at their Melville site on Long Island. After performing a laboratory expansion conceptual study it was decided to convert the existing table manufacturing, packaging and warehouse spaces into new laboratory facilities.
The 10,000 sq.ft. renovated warehouse space was designed by EI Associates to accommodate:
1.Wet Chemistry Lab
2.Electronics Lab
3.Methods Development Lab
4.Methods Development Office Area
5.Microbiology Lab
All plumbing, HVAC, and electrical system and supporting lab utilities were also renovated and upgraded to accommodate the new use areas. Sandoz selected EI Associates to provide design development, construction drawings, construction cost estimates, bidding phase and construction phase services for the complete renovation and upgrade project. All discipline expertise required was provided EI’s in-house team of pharmaceutical family design specialists. The design and construction documents were completed on schedule and the project moved into the construction stage. The project schedule was “fast-tracked” and was completed in four months.
