EI Associates recently assisted International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) with the preparation of an Interior Modernization Master Plan for their two-story Research and Development facility in Union Beach, NJ. The building houses laboratory, greenhouse, office, conference and support functions. The original building was built in 1968 and no longer properly supports IFF’s program requirements. The facilities, especially the first-floor laboratory areas, are not conducive to customer tours and do not convey IFF’s image and vision to visitors. To enhance the Union Beach facility and provide for a first-class customer experience, the Master Plan identified options to improve selected laboratory, office and conference facilities within the building. The improvements will modernize, improve functionality and provide a cohesive interior aesthetic of these spaces as well as creating an accurate corporate image for presentations to IFF customers. The laboratory, office and conference area options include the installation of perimeter glass walls at laboratory areas to permit customer observation of R&D activities, the replacement of all floor, wall and ceiling finishes within corridors, labs, office and conference areas, new lighting, and reconfiguration of executive office areas. As part of our work, EI prepared conceptual plans, three-dimensional interior renderings, schedule and budgetary cost information to assist IFF in their decision-making process and provide a “road map” for the execution of this project.
