EI Associates designed renovations to the Berlex Laboratories quality control area. The project consists of 17,000 square feet of new lab space on two floors at their Wayne, NJ corporate complex. The new labs were constructed inside a portion of the 22 foot high warehouse section of the existing building. A new independent steel structure was built inside the existing building shell, thereby creating additional useable floor space.

EI utilized the latest concepts in research facility planning to create an open, flexible plan of laboratories, offices and support spaces. Floor to ceiling glass partitions separate labs and provide for visual access and expanded spatial awareness across the floor. Labs and office areas are defined by circulation paths and low furniture to gain further advantage of the open layout.
