Physical Plant Upgrades

To improve equipment reliability, increase efficiency and maintain business continuity, EI Associates assisted Chanel with the Design/Build execution of physical plant upgrades at their Piscataway facility.  The upgrades covered the replacement of domestic water heaters, a steam boiler to high performance hot water boiler system conversion, the replacement of steam-fired absorbers and water-cooled chillers and air-cooled chillers.  The work involved the installation of the following:

  • New gas-fired hot water heater, recirculating pump and associated controls.
  • 4 Condensing hot water boilers at 2000 MBTUH each, new hot water heating pumps including VFD’s, and DDC controls.
  • 2 new air-cooled chillers (200-tons each), new chilled glycol circulating pumps, new isolation heat exchanger between exterior glycol system and interior plant chill water system, and DDC controls.
  • New air handling unit and DDC controls.

EI provided complete engineering, estimating, procurement and construction services as part of a turnkey project approach.
