EI Associates is honored to have designed New Jersey’s first LEED® Gold Certified Public School, also executed as New Jersey’s first Design/Build Public School, for the Neptune Township School District. Summerfield Elementary School incorporates the latest in efficient green building design to ensure it will be cost effective for the district to operate. United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED principles are used in the design and construction of the school, which maximizes the efficiency of operation, ease of maintenance, water conservation, indoor air quality, fuel cost savings, recycling, and use of renewable resources. Innovative features in this green design include under-floor air distribution, energy recovery, onsite geothermal wells, a high performance building envelope, bio-retention swales, subsurface infiltration tanks, a storm water holding tank for irrigation, and a solarium corridor.
